During the first quarter of the year, foreigner buyers were
found to be those who were purchasing the most expensive properties in
Portugal.
According to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE),
for buyers with tax domicile abroad, the median price of houses was 2,209
euros/m2, a value lower than that recorded in the previous quarter, of 2,302
euros/m2.
However this is markedly higher than buyers with tax domicile
in Portugal, where the house price was 1,428 euros/m2 (in the fourth quarter of
2021 it had been 1,319 euros/m2).
